We’ve changed our process of trying to get players in the league somewhat. Previoulsy we simply posted your information since we were short of warm bodies to help organize teams. We now have Erin Powers on our Executive Committee as the ASL Director of Development and she will not only be helping to get players placed but will also be organizing new teams for people who want to enter the league that way. Here’s one other bit of information. Our experience is that a lot of people who provide us their contact information to be listed never respond to anyone who attempts to contact them. If we’ve gotten no response for two weeks, we delete your information so people aren’t misled that you’re really interested in getting on a team.
If you’re a player looking, the more specific you are in what you’re looking for, the more likely you’ll be contacted by those people. Bear in mind that we play a fall and spring men’s league with 5 divisions and women’s league with 4 divisions. We play a fall and spring coed league in 4 divisions. Fall season is September through November, then a winter break and spring season is March and April. In the summer (June and July) we play coed (recreational and competitive), Over-30, a Sunday men’s competitive division, and 5 a side.
We’ve started weeknight coed and over-30 leagues at the Farmer’s Soccer Complex near Bernalillo now that we have 8 lighted fields and no high school play.
Players or team representatives should provide at least a first name and way to contact you. Specifics on types of teams, competitive level, experience, etc. are going to help you make contact more quickly. So far as contact information, our suggestion is that you use cell phone numbers (meaning not your work number or home land line) and an e-mail address from Yahoo, Google, or such rather than your work e-mail address. We will have this information posted in a fairly open forum and can’t vouch for people who will be seeing your information.
Please bear in mind that we have a lot more men contacting us to get on coed teams than we have coed teams looking for men. We have a lot less women looking for coed teams than we have coed teams looking for women.
Send your information to our e-mail address at
aslsoccer2014@gmail.com and we’ll have it posted generally within 24 hours.
