Over 40 players looking to join a team
Over 40 Game Rosters

OK here are the details for our first try at Over 40 play
ASL has started its first Over-40 season. Games are played at 7 p.m. on the lighted fields at the Farmers Insurance Soccer Tournament Complex. We can take up to eight teams per session and expand to play on other nights as well when more teams materialize. Games will be played by standard ASL league rules and will be 90-minute games.

The first session will be eight weeks. The second eight game session will begin Wednesday May 28. We cannot play in the fall due to high school commitments for use of the fields.

Player registration for currently registered ASL players is $65 for each eight-game session. It’s expensive because we have to rent the lighted fields. A “currently registered” ASL player is defined as someone who is currently registered on an ASL team and has a player passcard with either a red or blue validation sticker on it. If a person wishes to play and does not have a current passcard, they can obtain one at the office that will be valid through August 31, 2008, for $20. Such Over-40 only players then pay the $65 Over-40 league fee, also. They can play both eight-game sessions on the same $20 passcard. They are also eligible to play in the Over-40 tournament in Ruidoso. They will have a different colored validation label to reduce the creative opportunities for them to “accidentally” play on Sunday. Registration forms are available for download on this web site.

We will use the same approach for registration and roster management that we use in summer 5 a side. The team manager will bring a roster of players and payment to the League office. Each team MUST have a person designated as the team registrar who is capable of accessing league-issued rosters via the Internet. We will issue a roster electronically to the team with a list of the players eligible to participate on that team. Rosters will be posted on the League web site so you can open and print them from any computer. You print the roster prior to your game, take it with you to the game and hand that roster to the center referee prior to your game for player check-in. Anyone who is not on the League-issued roster is not eligible to play, regardless of what “the lady at the office” or “Mike Edwards” said. Each player must present their passcard to the referee prior to entering the game. For players who play in the men’s division on Sundays, you use the same passcard for Over-40 play. For players who only play Over-40, we will issue you a passcard for your Over-40 team. As a result, players will present passcards with different team names on them but for the modern miracle that an existing ASL team has all players who are Over-40 and elects to play in this division also. By having the player’s name on the League-issued roster, the referee can then determine who has actually PAID the League to play Over-40 soccer. No pay, no play. No passcard, no play.

You must have a passcard issued by ASL to participate.  Passcards for LigaLatino are not valid for ASL play.
